Amsterdam

Finding the right workspace in Amsterdam isn't just about a desk and WiFi. We've explored the city's creative scene, talking to our members, designers, photographers, and entrepreneurs to understand what actually makes a space work for creative minds. Here are five places that consistently came up in our conversations – spaces that go beyond the typical co-working basics.

Workspace at Fosbury & Sons

Fosbury & Sons: The Gem We've Been Waiting For

Location: Prinsengracht 769, 1017 JZ Amsterdam

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM

Entry: Day pass or multiple membership tiers

When we first heard about Fosbury & Sons expanding from Belgium to Amsterdam, we were skeptical. Another co-working chain? But after spending time in their Prinsengracht location, we get why people keep recommending it.

The founders – Stijn Geeraets, Maarten Van Gool, and Serge Hannecart – clearly understand that we need more than just a place to park our laptops. Their Amsterdam space feels like someone actually thought about how creative work happens: sometimes you need complete silence, sometimes you need to collaborate, and sometimes you need to make noise (literally, they have a bookable music studio with proper acoustic treatment).

The Investment:

  • Visitor Day Pass: €45 – full day access including restaurant access, coffee and pastry
  • Part-Time Membership: €275/month (yearly) or €325/month (6-month commitment) – 2 days a week access
  • Atelier (Fixed Desk): €600/month (yearly) or €650/month (6-month commitment) – your own desk in a shared office
  • Under 30 Membership: €250/month (yearly) or €300/month (6-month commitment) – weekdays 8 AM-6 PM
  • Music Membership: €650/month – includes 10 studio sessions plus all standard amenities

All memberships include meeting room access (4 hours monthly), community events, and what they call "Fosbury hospitality", which, from our experience, means coffee that's solid and a team that remembers your name. Check their website for latest updates on pricing and memberships.

Workspace at NIO House

NIO House: The Most Accessible Work Space

Location: Leidsestraat 32-34, 1017 PB Amsterdam

Hours: Daily 10 AM - 6 PM

Entry: No membership required

We almost walked past this one. A car showroom turned workspace? It sounded like a gimmick. But NIO House has become one of our favorite recommendations, especially for early-stage founders who are tired of expensive memberships.

The concept is beautifully simple: four floors of genuinely usable workspace, completely free access, no complicated booking systems. Just show up. We've seen illustrators sketching by the large street-facing windows, writers claiming corners in the library, and small teams using the café area for client meetings.

What You Actually Get (For Free):

  • Walk-in access to open co-working areas
  • Library with quiet zones and curated design books
  • Café for meetings and fuel
  • Family-friendly setup with a thoughtfully designed kids' area
  • Bookable private studios and offices when you need to focus
  • Weekend access: rare in Amsterdam's co-working spaces

The catch? It can get busy, especially during Amsterdam's frequent rainy afternoons when everyone seeks shelter. But that's also part of its charm: you're working alongside car buyers, tourists, and fellow creatives in this strange, wonderful mix.

The Hoxton Amsterdam (Lloyd).

The Hoxton: The Hotel Bistro Where Creatives Work

Location: Herengracht 255, 1016 BJ Amsterdam

Hours: Daily 7 AM - 11 PM

Entry: No membership required

Sometimes the best workspaces hide in plain sight. The Hoxton's restaurant, Lotti, has quietly become a favorite among Amsterdam's creative freelancers who've discovered something hotel guests often miss: this is actually one of the city's most atmospheric places to work.

Step inside Lotti and you'll immediately understand the appeal. The space strikes that perfect balance between cozy and professional. On any given afternoon, you'll spot designers hunched over laptops, people scribbling in notebooks, and small creative teams having hushed strategy sessions.

The restaurant focuses on seasonal Dutch ingredients in an all-day format, which means you can nurse on coffee for hours or transition seamlessly from workspace to proper lunch without changing location. The WiFi is reliable (crucial for video calls), and the staff has clearly adapted to the laptop crowd: no one's rushing you to leave.

Once a month their bistro hosts a Vinyl & Vino event. Check @lottisamsterdam on Instagram for dates and RSVP links.

The Secret Spots: For early risers, there's a hidden gem: four canal-facing benches right outside the hotel entrance. Grab your coffee and claim one of these spots for a morning work session in the sun (when Amsterdam decides to cooperate weather-wise). Fair warning though: WiFi is stronger inside, so save the outdoor time for tasks that don't require constant connectivity.

The Disloyalty Program: 10% off food and drinks, plus one free coffee daily. It's their cheeky take on hotel loyalty programs, and honestly, if you're planning to work here regularly, the free coffee alone makes it worthwhile.

Cecconi's Amsterdam / Soho House

Soho House Amsterdam: The Conversational Space

Location: Spuistraat 210, 1012 VT Amsterdam

Hours: Daily 8 AM - 6 PM

Entry: Public access to ground floor café

Here's our recommendation for when you need a beautiful spot for client meetings: the ground floor café at Soho House Amsterdam. While the members' club upstairs remains exclusive, the café (part of their Cecconi's restaurant) welcomes everyone.

This isn't a place for marathon work sessions. The atmosphere is designed for conversation, not concentration, and you'll feel the gentle pressure to order something substantial rather than sip on a single cappuccino for three hours. But for client meetings, pitch presentations, or those crucial conversations where ambiance matters, few places in Amsterdam match this level of understated sophistication.

Best for: Client meetings, coffee with collaborators, first impressions

Skip if: You need to camp out for hours or work on budget-sensitive projects

The rooftop at Strech and Fold

Stretch and Fold: The Wellness Community Spot in Noord

Location: Papaverhof 71C, 1032 LX Amsterdam

Entry: Wellness-focused community hub with multiple membership tiers

Sometimes the best breakthroughs happens away from the tourist crowds. Noord – Amsterdam's most interesting neighborhood with emerging artists and design studios – offers something the city center can't: space to breathe, industrial vibes, and prices that won't bankrupt your creative practice.

Stretch and Fold embodies everything we love about Noord's creative scene. This wellness-focused community hub proves that the best workspaces understand that creativity flows from the whole person, not just their brain. Between yoga sessions, sauna breaks, and rooftop events, you'll find yourself part of a genuine community that understands: sometimes you need to move your body to free your mind. Check their website for their monthly events that go from music performances on their rooftop to painting workshops.

Membership Options:

  • Weekly Membership: €44/month – 4 movement classes, café discount, event access
  • Movement Membership: €88/month – unlimited classes, pool access, sauna session
  • Movement Flexible: €99/month – same as above, but month-to-month (no commitment)
  • Unlimited: €135/month – everything plus unlimited sauna and pool access
  • Sauna Membership: €88/month – unlimited sauna, pool access, plus one movement class monthly
