Mexico Art Week 2026|

Events & Fairs

30 Jan 2026

Every February, Mexico City becomes one of the most compelling destinations for contemporary art - and this year is no different.

Anchored by Zona Maco, now in its 22nd year, the fair has evolved into Latin America's largest contemporary art gathering, exhibiting 200 galleries from 27 countries this year. But Zona Maco is just the starting point. Over 90 cultural institutions, independent spaces, and galleries join the week, transforming neighborhoods like Condesa, Roma, and Polanco into a sprawling celebration of contemporary art.

The programming has sharpened, the international attention has grown, but the energy remains restless, still testing its limits, still finding new ground. Here are some of our highlights and must-sees for this year's edition.

The Fairs

Zona Maco remains the commercial center of the week, the largest contemporary art fair in Latin America, where blue-chip galleries and national heavyweights converge at Centro Citibanamex. It's polished, professional, and where the major deals happen.

The satellite fairs have grown into essential stops. Feria Material and Salón ACME showcase emerging Latin American talent and experimental work, offering a different lens on the region's contemporary art scene. Worth making time for.

Gallery Highlights & Exhibitions

MASA x Modern Art

Starting off with one of our favorite galleries: MASA (co-founded by NeueHaus member Hector Esrawe) hosts a dual presentation with Modern Art, opening February 3, 5–9 PM at Joaquín A. Pérez 6, San Miguel Chapultepec. A strong convergence of international and Latin American practices under one roof.

Studio Bosco Sodi

On view across four floors, acclaimed Mexican artist Bosco Sodi presents Sisyphus, an exhibition focused on process, material, and repetition. Working with earth pigments, volcanic rock, natural fibers, and clay, Sodi embraces chance and physical labor as central to the work. Curated by Alberto Ríos de la Rosa, the exhibition offers a direct look at an artist committed to making as an ongoing, physical act. You can book a studio tour here.

Studio Bosco Sodi is located at Fundación Casa Wabi CDMX, founded by Bosco Sodi to foster exchange between contemporary art and local communities. If you're traveling around Mexico, it's also worth stopping by Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido.

Salomon Mexico x Fundación Maceta at ASD Mexico

Outdoor brand Salomon Mexico teams up with Fundación Maceta for Second Nature, on view February 3–7 at Andres Saavedra Design's gallery space. Curated by Ilan Cohen, the show brings together emerging artists working within a shared 21.6 × 21.6 cm format - intimate "windows into nature." Compact but cohesive.

Cuadra San Cristóbal

Come for the stunning location: Cuadra San Cristóbal, a private estate and former stable in Los Clubes, Mexico City, was designed by Luis Barragán (1966-1968) and features his iconic pink wall, walled courtyard, and monumental fountain. During Mexico City Art Week, the estate hosts works by Félix González-Torres, curated by Pablo León de la Barra, creating a poetic dialogue between contemporary art and Barragán's architectural spaces.

More Galleries Worth Visiting

Beyond the highlighted exhibitions, these galleries consistently deliver strong programming during Art Week: Peana, Penumbra, Colector, GalleriaOMR and Giegling. Worth checking their schedules ahead of the week.

Events & Special Programming

Pop-Up Listening Room by Monolith x Taller Batán

Not everything during Art Week is visual. Collectible furniture studio Monolith is partnering with furniture designer Taller Batán for a listening pop-up in their Roma Norte studio. The space debuts M_025 stone speakers, carved from solid stone by Taller Batán and engineered by Melyn Labs. Sound through mass and void. Open February 4–8, 11 AM–5 PM and 6–10 PM. A rare chance to sit still during a relentless week.

MATTE Projects

New York creative company MATTE Projects returns to Mexico Art Week with their signature blend of art, nightlife, and fashion. Their events consistently pull an eclectic crowd and serve as unofficial meeting points throughout the week. This year: MN ROY on February 3, multi-day programming at Lago Algo (February 5–8), and Radio Quebrada on February 5.

Laguna

One of our favorites. Laguna is a collaborative production space for design, architecture, gastronomy, and art. For Mexico Art Week, they open with RE 15SO: Architectures of Almost Nothing (February 4), 15 international offices rethinking architecture through reuse and material precision. Programming also includes Gran Salon Mexico, ceramics, sound projects, and open studios. Find the full schedule here. Free entry with registration.

Where to stay

You'll be spending most of your time in Roma Norte and Condesa, Polanco and Juárez where the majority of galleries are concentrated, plus San Miguel Chapultepec for key museum and institutional programming. It makes sense to find accommodations around these areas
